November 22, (THEWILL) — Bournemouth fought back from two goals down to claim a 2-2 draw against West Ham at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday. Marcus Tavernier and substitute Enes Unal found the net in a dominant second-half display to cancel out Callum Wilson’s double for the visitors.
Wilson, formerly of Bournemouth, opened the scoring after 11 minutes when he controlled Alphonse Areola’s long clearance before his distant strike crept past goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic. The forward added his second 10 minutes before half-time, hooking the ball into the top-left corner following knock-ons from Jarrod Bowen and Jean-Clair Todibo.
The Cherries dominated after the interval and reduced the deficit when Tavernier converted from the penalty spot after Max Kilman handled the ball. Unal required just 46 seconds on the pitch to restore parity, finishing clinically from Marco Senesi’s pass through the West Ham defence.
Bournemouth could have claimed all three points but for Areola’s outstanding goalkeeping. The West Ham custodian denied Eli Junior Kroupi’s side-footed attempt shortly before Unal’s equaliser, then produced further saves to thwart Evanilson and Amine Adli.
The result denied West Ham a third consecutive English Premier League victory under manager Nuno Espirito Santo. Wet and windy conditions on the South Coast contributed to an open contest that saw both sides create numerous opportunities throughout the 90 minutes.
