BEVERLY HILLS, July 14, (THEWILL) – A former Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress, APC, will win the Ekiti State Governorship election and serve for four years, THEWILL can project, following exit poll results and authentic but unofficial results coming in from the governorship election conducted Saturday across the state.

35 political parties participated in the election across 2,195 polling units in 16 local government areas.

The election according to the exit polls was a two-way battle between Fayemi of the All Progressives Congress, and current deputy governor, Olusola Eleka of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

THEWILL notes that Fayemi defeated the PDP, the party of the incumbent governor, Ayodele Fayose in their local government, Irepodun-Ifelodun by 13,869 votes to 11, 456 votes.

Fayemi was also very impressive across the state polling strong numbers in areas previously dominated by the PDP, which defeated him resoundingly four years ago. He has won at least 12 local government areas according to the results collated by election officials at the local government councils and obtained by journalists.

Only results certified and declared by INEC at its Ado-Ekiti secretariat will be considered official.

INEC is scheduled to begin formal collation and announcement on Sunday morning.
