SAN FRANCISCO, 07, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian government on Wednesday reacted to the three months ultimatum given to Igbo by a coalition of northern groups to leave the 19 northern states, by assuring all Nigerians of safety and security.
Speaking with State House correspondents shortly after the Federal Executive Council, FEC, meeting, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed dismissed the threat, stating that it is not a new development.
He however assured that the coalition’s threat to commence an effective and safe mop-up of all Igbo still remaining in the North from October 1, 2017 is being handled by the relevant agencies of government.
According to the minister, “It is not the first time that different groups will issue such threats.
“It is not new, but what I want to assure you is that the security agencies are on top of the situation.”
