May 13, (THEWILL) — President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Kigali, Rwanda, ahead of the 13th edition of the Africa CEO Forum, where he is expected to present Nigeria’s economic reform agenda and deepen strategic partnerships to accelerate Africa’s development.
Confirming the visit in a statement, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said Tinubu touched down at the Presidential Wing of the Kigali International Airport on Wednesday and was received by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Ojukwu, alongside Rwanda’s Minister of Defence, Juvenal Marizamunda.
Other top government officials on hand to welcome the Nigerian leader included the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr Jumoke Oduwole; Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed; the Nigerian Chargé d’Affaires in Rwanda, Ambassador Ibrahim Zanna; and the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Chief Sunday Dare.
The annual forum, founded in 2012 by Jeune Afrique Media and co-hosted by the International Finance Corporation, has evolved into Africa’s largest gathering of private sector leaders, investors, policymakers, and development partners focused on shaping the continent’s economic future.
This year’s edition is themed “The Scale Imperative: Why Africa Must Embrace Shared Ownership”, with discussions expected to centre on regional integration, cross-border investments, industrial growth, and strategies for unlocking Africa’s economic potential through stronger collaboration between governments and the private sector.
At the summit, President Tinubu is scheduled to deliver a keynote address titled “Holding the Line: Nigeria’s Reform Bet in a Fractured World”, where he will outline the progress and benefits of ongoing economic reforms being implemented by his administration despite prevailing global economic uncertainties.
The President is also expected to participate in a series of high-level bilateral engagements with African and global business executives, investors and policymakers as part of efforts to attract investments into Nigeria and strengthen the country’s economic partnerships across the continent.
The Nigerian leader will use the platform to reaffirm Nigeria’s commitment to African unity, regional economic cooperation and private sector-led sustainable development.
The Africa CEO Forum is expected to attract thousands of delegates from across the continent and beyond, including chief executives, investors, development finance institutions, policymakers and entrepreneurs seeking collaborative solutions to Africa’s development challenges.
