October 17, (THEWILL) — President Bola Tinubu has joined the people of Ogun State and Nigerians at large in celebrating the 100th birthday of Chief (Mrs.) Lucia Onabowale Onabanjo, widow of the late Chief Victor Olabisi Onabanjo, the first civilian governor of Ogun State.

In a personally signed tribute, President Tinubu described Madam Onabanjo’s life as a reflection of grace, wisdom, and enduring service, noting her significant role in Nigeria’s political and moral history as the wife and confidant of one of the country’s foremost nationalist leaders.
“Madam Onabanjo shared in the quiet sacrifices and enduring vision that built one of the most respected legacies of service and probity in our democratic history,” Tinubu said.
The President lauded her devotion to teaching for over two decades and her impact as a mentor to generations of young Nigerians in Lagos and Zaria.
He also commended her resilience, faith, and moral strength in nurturing families and upholding community values.
Tinubu further praised her uncommon grace and capacity for forgiveness, recalling how she showed remarkable fortitude even toward a former military leader whose regime imprisoned her husband.
“Her century of life reminds us that true greatness is measured not by titles but by the quiet consistency of virtue and service,” the President added.
On behalf of the Federal Government, Tinubu congratulated Madam Onabanjo’s children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, praying for her continued health, peace, and joy as she witnesses the fruits of her labour across generations.
