May 13, (THEWILL) — President Bola Tinubu departed Nairobi, Kenya on Wednesday, for Kigali, Rwanda, following his participation in the Africa Forward Summit held in the Kenyan capital.
The President’s visit to Rwanda forms part of ongoing diplomatic engagements aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, enhancing regional cooperation, and expanding economic partnerships between Nigeria and other African nations.
Tinubu’s movement from Nairobi to Kigali also reflects Nigeria’s renewed commitment to continental integration, trade expansion, and strategic collaboration under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework.
While in Nairobi, the Nigerian leader joined other African presidents, policymakers, investors, and business executives at the Africa Forward Summit, where discussions centred on economic growth, innovation, sustainable development, infrastructure financing, youth empowerment, and intra-African trade.
The summit provided a platform for African leaders to deliberate on pathways for accelerating the continent’s economic transformation and strengthening partnerships capable of driving industrialisation and long-term development.
Tinubu is expected to participate in high-level engagements in Kigali, including meetings with government officials, investors, and stakeholders in sectors critical to economic growth and regional stability.
The discussions are anticipated to focus on trade, investment opportunities, technology, agriculture, security cooperation, aviation, and institutional partnerships between Nigeria and Rwanda.
The President’s East African diplomatic engagements come amid ongoing efforts by African leaders to deepen economic cooperation and strengthen regional blocs in response to emerging global economic realities.
Presidential spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, had earlier outlined the President’s multi-country itinerary, which included official engagements in France, Kenya, and Rwanda.
