
January 25, (THEWILL) — President Bola Tinubu will depart Abuja on Monday for a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye as part of efforts to strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation in key sectors, including security, trade, education, innovation, and aviation.
A statement signed on Sunday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the visit will feature high-level political and diplomatic engagements between Nigeria and Türkiye, focusing on shared priorities in finance, communications, investment, and economic development.
President Tinubu is expected to hold talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and other senior officials, with both countries set to sign several memoranda of understanding covering scientific research, energy, technical cooperation, media and communications, military collaboration, and protocol matters.
A Nigeria–Türkiye business forum will also be convened during the visit, bringing together public and private sector stakeholders from both nations to explore new investment opportunities and deepen commercial ties.
Members of the President’s delegation include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar; Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi, SAN; Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd); Chairman, House Committee on Defence, Hon. Jimi Benson; Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajiya Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Minister of Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu; and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
The state visit is expected to further consolidate Nigeria–Türkiye relations, following President Erdogan’s official visit to Nigeria in October 2021, while opening new pathways for strategic and economic collaboration.
President Tinubu is expected to return to the country at the conclusion of the visit.
