SAN FRANCISCO, February 15, (THEWILL) – Mr. Osung Ekpo, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) in charge of Area K Police Command, Morogbo, Lagos state has died in a swimming pool as he was celebrating the St. Valentine’s Day with some of his friends.
Reports indicate that the area commander died in a swimming pool at a popular hotel in Ajah area of the state during a hang-out with some friends when he decided to swim and drowned.
Eye witnesses said that he was rescued from the pool and was taken to the hospital but died few minutes later. His corpse has since been deposited at the morgue, while investigations into his death is said to be ongoing.
This has been confirmed by the Lagos state police spokesperson, Dolapo Badmos, a Superintendent of Police, who said that the officer had gone for a swimming exercise when the sad incident occurred.
“Yes, we lost ACP Ekpo, the Area Commander, Area K Command. He was exercising in a swimming pool when he died,” she said.
Ekpo was the officer who led a team of policemen to reclaim parcels of land belonging to the Nigerian Police at Morogbo area of Badagry that was sold to unsuspecting members of the public by some land grabbers.
