October 17, (THEWILL) -Leandro Trossard has become a hot property now as some English Premier League sides are interested in bringing him over to their clubs.
While Trossard himself wants to rejoin Graham Potter at Chelsea, Dan Ashworth, the former sporting director of the Seagulls, wants to bring the Belgian to Newcastle. His contract with Brighton and Hove Albion expires in 2024, with the club desirous to lock him into a new agreement.
After acquiring Trossard from Genk in 2019, Potter, who used the versatile winger in a variety of positions while in charge at the Amex Stadium, wants to bring him to Stamford Bridge. He will compete against Ashworth, who is now in charge at Newcastle, who has been paying close attention to the contract negotiations on the south coast.
Ashworth is already fully aware of Trossard’s quality, and the possibility of a discounted deal is a huge draw for Newcastle even though they are working hard on other targets.
In addition to his eight goals and three assists from the previous season, Trossard is having a standout season with the Seagulls with five goals and an assist so far. He will travel with Belgium to the World Cup this winter.
