Trump Invites Buhari To White House

BEVERLY HILLS, April 15, (THEWILL) – President Donald J. Trump will welcome President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria to the White House on April 30, 2018, the White House said in a statement on Sunday.

Buhari and Trump had previously met at the White House in September last year when he met with Trump alongside select African leaders. This upcoming meeting will be their second.

“President Trump looks forward to discussing ways to enhance our strategic partnership and advance our shared priorities: promoting economic growth and reforms, fighting terrorism and other threats to peace and security, and building on Nigeria’s role as a democratic leader in the region.

“The relationship of the United States with Nigeria is deep and strong, and Nigeria’s economic growth, security, and leadership in Africa will advance our mutual prosperity,” the statement added.

President Buhari is presently in London on an official visit and will also attend the Commonwealth heads of government meeting.
