Two Lakers Players Contract Coronavirus Bringing The NBA Number To 10

BEVERLY HILLS, March 19, (THEWILL) – The Los Angeles Lakers Thursday announced that two players have tested positive for Covid-19 and have been quarantined.

The announcement brings the total number of players in the NBA with the coronavirus to 10 – Jazz (2), Nets (4), Pistons (1) and the Bolton Celtics’ Marcus Smart, who announced he had contracted the disease.

Lakers did not identify the players.

“We learned today that two Lakers players have tested positive. Both players are currently asymptomatic, in quarantine and under the care of the team’s physician.

“All players and members of the Lakers staff are being asked to continue to observe self-quarantine and shelter at home guidelines, closely monitor their health, consult with their personal physicians and maintain constant communication with the team,” the Lakers said in a written statement.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers said three members of the organization have contracted the deadly virus. The members were not identified. Also the Denver Nuggets said someone in their organization tested positive for the virus. It did not identify the person.

The NBA has since suspended the rest of the 2019-2020 season and it is unclear when games will resume.
