April 25, (THEWILL) – Nigeria’s Under-20 team is preparing for the summer World Cup and has officially invited Joel Ideho to their training camp.
The young winger has trained with Nigerian youth teams in the past but did not play in the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) last year due to passport issues. Letters have already been sent out to him and the teams of others selected as the Nigeria boss, Ladan Bosso, finalises his selections.
Ideho has recently returned to first-team training with Arsenal’s U-21 squad after recovering from an ankle injury sustained in March. He had improved to being a starter leading up to his injury, making the starting lineup in five consecutive fixtures in all competitions.
The former Ajax youngster has scored six goals for Arsenal this season and Gunners’ U-21 boss, Mehmet Ali, will be hoping he can add to that as he returns to the team. Despite missing matches against Blackburn Rovers, Manchester United, Fulham, Brighton, and Fulham, Ideho’s return to training suggests he can now feature in upcoming fixtures.
His inclusion in the Nigeria U-20 training camp is a testament to his talent and potential and could pave the way for future call-ups to the senior team, the Super Eagles.
