UNILAG Crisis: Buhari Constitutes Panel, Directs Babalakin, Ogundipe To Step Aside

BEVERLY HILLS, August 21, (THEWILL) – President MUhammadu Buhari has directed the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of the University of Lagos, Dr Wale Babalakin, SAN and the embattled Vice Chancellor, Prof. Oluwatoyin Ogundipe to recuse themselves from official duties after he constituted a special visitation panel to look into the leadership crisis rocking the foremost institution.

The panel has two weeks to conclude its work and submit its findings.

The development was announced Friday in a statement by Mr Ben Goong, Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, in Abuja.

THEWILL recalls that Ogundipe and Babalakin have been at loggerheads over the management of affairs concerning the school, which culminated in sack of the Vice Chancellor by the governing board of the institution.
