June 21, (THEWILL) – EA Sports, the renowned developers and publishers of sports video games, is gearing up for a momentous gaming event in Africa, where they will be hosting the FIFA23 Invitational Qualifiers competition in Lagos, Nigeria.
Significantly, this will mark EA Sports’ inaugural licensed show on the African continent. The event is scheduled to take place at the UNILAG Sports Centre, situated within the University of Lagos. With a burgeoning gaming community, enthusiasts from Nigeria are eagerly anticipating this gaming extravaganza.
In a testament to their commitment, EA Sports has allocated an impressive prize pool of $10,000 (equivalent to over N7 million) for what promises to be a fiercely contested winner-takes-all battle. The FIFA23 football invitational is expected to witness a turnout of over 200 Nigerian participants at the Sports Center.
To ensure fair competition, 256 players will be registered and divided into four groups of 64 individuals each. The top two performers from each group will proceed to the final stage, where a total of eight players will vie for the ultimate prize. The competition will consist of four rounds following a knockout format, with each half lasting four minutes. Additionally, an extra four minutes will be allocated for tactics, substitutions, and potential penalties.
Aptly named the invitational, this event at the Unilag Sports Center aims to determine the eight players, who will advance to the grand final scheduled for July 8, 2023. The culmination of the tournament will witness an intense clash among the remaining contenders, all competing for the coveted prize of N7 million. Fans and gaming enthusiasts worldwide will be able to witness this thrilling showdown as the final will be streamed live on YouTube and Twitch platforms.
