BEVERLY HILLS, AUGUST 22, (THEWILL) – Several leaders of the Boko Haram have been confirmed killed in what the army described as “the most unprecedented and spectacular air raid” conducted by the Nigerian Air Force while the terrorists were performing Friday rituals at Taye village, Gombale general area within Sambisa forest, Borno State.
The Army in a statement on Monday night named Abubakar Mubi, Malam Nuhu and Malam Hamman, amongst others as commanders of the terrorist group killed during the operation. “While their leader, so called “Abubakar Shekau”, is believed to be fatally wounded on his shoulders. Several other terrorists were also wounded,” the statement by Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, Acting Director Army Public Relations, said.
Nigeria’s security agencies have made similar claims in the past that ‘Shekau’ had been killed during military operations only for the terrorist group leader to appear in videos claiming to be alive.
The Boko Haram which pledged allegiance to ISIS a few months back is believed to be one of the deadliest terrorists groups in the world, killing over 20, 000 persons in the last six years in Nigeria and its neighbours in the north.
