November 24, (THEWILL) — The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State has formally launched early mobilisation efforts for the 2027 elections, declaring support for both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, a development that signals deepening political alignment across party lines in the state.
Speaking at the maiden APC Homecoming Weekend, held at St. Patrick’s Primary School, Uyo, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Uyo political leader, Prince Enobong Uwah, said the local government remains committed to backing the President and the Governor, whom he described as steering administrations focused on development and inclusion.
The Chairman of ALGON and Uyo LGA Chairman, Dr Uwemedimo Udo, said the Homecoming Weekend was designed to strengthen APC structures at the grassroots ahead of the next election cycle. He credited the SSG for sustained engagement with wards in the area and pointed to ongoing state projects as contributing to the renewed momentum.
Uyo APC Chapter Chairman, Mr Gabriel Ikpe, commended party members for their turnout and expressed confidence in the party’s readiness for the 2027 polls.
The Member representing Uyo State Constituency, Hon. Uwemedimo Udo, said the inclusion of several Uyo indigenes—including the SSG, ALGON Chairman and UCCDA Chairman—in key government positions demonstrated strong representation for the area. He said the political climate was favourable for the party’s prospects in 2027.
Other stakeholders, including the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Anieti Udofia; UCCDA Chairman, Hon. Anietie Eka; Delivery Advisor to the Governor on Tourism, Sir Charles Udoh; Hon. Monday Eyo; Obonganwan Mfon Udokpo, clan representatives, and the non-indigenes association, delivered goodwill messages, emphasising unity and cooperation across political interests.
The gathering collectively endorsed continued support for the President and Governor, citing ongoing federal and state development initiatives.
A highlight of the event was the accreditation and revalidation of APC membership, followed by the formal handover of the party register from the eleven wards to the SSG in his capacity as Uyo political leader.
The meeting drew a large turnout of dignitaries, including the wife of the SSG, Dr Inemesit Uwah; President of WALGON and wife of the Uyo Council Chairman, Mrs Akaninyene Uwemedimo; former Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Prof. Chris Ekong; former Senior Aide to the Governor, Elder Eniefiok Ekefre; ARISE Initiative for the Elderly Coordinator, Mrs Mercy Eka; aides to the Governor led by Mr Ime Uwah; and several elders, youth groups, women and non-indigenes.
