Uzodimma Tasks River Basin Authority On Impactful Projects, Pledges Imo’s Support

Governor Hope Uzodimma

October 05, (THEWILL) — Governor Hope Uzodimma has called on the management of the Anambra-Imo River Basin Development Authority to fast-track development-driven Projects that will directly benefit Communities across the Region.

The Governor made the appeal while receiving a delegation from the Authority, led by the Chairman of the Board, Senator Emma Anosike, and the Managing Director/CEO, Engr. Emeka Nduka.

The delegation was in the State to formally express appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for entrusting them with the responsibility of steering the Authority’s mandate.

Governor Uzodimma underscored the critical role of River Basin Development Authorities in National Growth, noting that they were established to boost Agriculture, manage Water Resources sustainably, and stimulate Socio-Economic Development.

He assured the delegation of the cooperation and support of the Imo State Government and its people, but stressed the need for visible results.

“This is not the time for Boardroom Bureaucracy. Our people want to see irrigation Projects, improved farming systems, access to water, and regional development. Stay focused on your core objectives and accelerate implementation of programmes that will bring lasting impact,” he said.

Uzodimma urged the Authority’s leadership to align their activities with the needs of Farmers, Rural Communities, and Industries that depend on Water and Land Resources.

Observers say the visit has rekindled expectations around the dormant potential of River Basin Authorities, many of which have been criticised for underperformance despite their strategic relevance.
