
December 13, (THEWILL) – Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, on December 12, 2023, presented a N592,234 billion budget proposal to the Imo State House of Assembly for 2024 fiscal year.
Presenting the budget as Renewed Budget of Economic Growth, Uzodinma said that Imo State, had within the last four years under his watch, been positioned for accelerated and massive economic growth and development,
The total budget proposal which stood at N592,234,594,176, has N491,239,752,4082, as capital expenditure, representing 82.9 percent, while the recurrent expenditure stood at N100,994,842,135,38, representing 17.1 percent of the total budget estimate.
Uzodinma, who seized the opportunity to highlight some of his signature projects in the state, said that Imo State would witness more infrastructural and human capital development come 2024.
He gave the assurance that his 3R Government would not tolerate corruption amongst civil and public servants, maintaining that all capital project funds would be duly appropriated and diligently utilised.
The state governor expressed gratitude to Imo electorate for giving him a second mandate to serve them, promising to leave the state a mega city at the end of his reign as governor of the state
He, therefore, urged the tenth Assembly to pass the bill into law for the benefits of Ndi Imo.
The lawmakers, who commended the Governor for presenting what they described as “development-oriented budget proposal”, promised speedy passage of the bill into law for unprecedented development in the state.
The lawmakers celebrated the Governor who marked his birthday anniversary on the same day of the budget presentation, wishing him well in his future endeavours.
Present at the presentation ceremony were the National Chairman of the All progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Abudulahi Ganduje, President General of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu. Okigwe South Federal House of Reps Member Okigwe, Rt. Hon Chike Okafor and other dignitaries.
