May 16, (THEWILL) – Several vehicles worth millions of naira were destroyed after a gas explosion occurred at the Nobpet Petrol and Gas Filling Station, located opposite the Air Force base in Port Harcourt on Friday.
The explosion, which was heard from several kilometres away, sparked a fierce fire at the station.
Emergency responders from the Rivers State Fire Service arrived at the scene to combat the blaze and prevent it from spreading further.
Although no human casualties have been confirmed at the time of report, the area has been cordoned off by security forces as investigations into the cause of the explosion continue.
Residents in the surrounding area have been advised to stay clear of the site as emergency services continue to assess the situation.
