We Spent N100m On Melaye’s Recall – INEC

SAN FRANCISCO, May 04, (THEWILL) – The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has stated that the Commission spent only N100million on the failed bid to recall Senator Dino Melaye.

THEWILL recalls that there was a failed attempt to to recall the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District.

Yakubu, speaking at a press conference in Abuja, revealed that the figure was nowhere near the N100billion reported in several quarters.

“A recall exercise is just like conducting a Senatorial election,” he said.

“The Kogi-West which Melaye represents has 552 polling units and seven local governments.”
