Why DSS Agents Ejected Ex-DG, Are, From Ikoyi Home

BEVERLY HILLS, December 03, (THEWILL) – THEWILL has gathered that the major reason why agents of the Department of State Services, DSS, ejected a former Director-General of the Service, Col. Kayode Are (rtd) from his 50, Alexander, Ikoyi, Lagos residence was because the property belonged to the Federal Government.

Reports say the current Director-General of DSS, Lawal Musa Daura, upon assumption of office wrote personally to his predecessor who served between 1999 to 2007 under then President Olusegun Obasanjo. But rather than vacate the property, Are secured a court order restraining such eviction.

But despite this subsisting court order, about four operatives of DSS armed with automatic rifles stormed the compound around 8 am on Wednesday forcefully removing the ex-Security Chief’s property from the building, even as they drove members of his family away.

Before the black gate was hurriedly shut, household items were seen littering the compound. The operatives later locked the gate and were peeping at passers-by through a hole. No one was allowed to come in or go out of the premises.

According to The Nation, an online medium quotes Are as saying on Wednesday that: “They are right here in my house; they have pulled down the doors, chased my family away and are throwing out our property. They are not even giving us time to remove our things.”

As at press time, however, an official clarification on the ejection is yet to be made available.
