October 27, (THEWILL) — Former Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Namibia, Rt. Honourable Terhemen Tarzor, has applauded the giant stride recorded by Governor Hyacinth Alia for the past two and a half years, recommending him to continue in office.
Speaking at NUJ House, Makurdi, on Monday, the former Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, noted that Governor Alia has introduced a new paradigm shift in the political realm in Benue, where things hardly work.
According to him, his record of achievements has spoken much for him, saying no Benue person of right mind would work against what he has posted, including township and rural electrification, roads and other incentives.
Responding to a question, Rt. Honourable Tarzor said he is still consulting with his people on the next line of action ahead of the 2027 general election in the state.
He argued that the current member of the House of Representatives for Makurdi/Guma, Rt honorable Dickson Tarkigher, would have been doing well; however, the zoning arrangement has not favoured him, having occupied the seat for two terms.
Ambassador Tarzor said the seeming rift between the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume and Governor Hyacinth Alia must be healed for the good of Benue State.
“Let me thank Senator George Akume for what he has done in my political journey, recommending him to Mr President for an ambassadorial position”, Tarzor stated.
He posited that anyone who is not comfortable with his position on Governor Alia can excuse him and hold his or her position.
In his welcome address, the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists’ Benue State Council, Comrade Bemdoo Ugber, said journalists maintain their role of accurate and balanced reportage of affairs in the state.
He described Amb. Tarzor, as someone with vast political experience of both local and international repute, calls on him to throw his office open in all that he does in the course of life.
He assured him of support at all times in the course of the campaign if he decides to throw his heart come 2027 and beyond.
