October 27, (THEWILL) — Michelle Alozie has earned a place on the 26-player shortlist for the 2025 FIFPRO Women’s World 11, announced on Monday. The Houston Dash right-back is the only Nigerian footballer included among the global nominees.

FIFPRO selected the finalists from votes cast by more than 6,000 professional women footballers worldwide. Players needed at least 20 official appearances between August 11, 2024 and August 3, 2025, to qualify for consideration. The final World 11 will be revealed on November 3, with winners determined by the highest vote totals in their respective positions.

Alozie contributed to Nigeria’s Super Falcons triumph at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, where her defensive work helped clinch the continental title. President Bola Tinubu recognised the achievement with national honours and a $100,000 cash prize for the squad.

In the defender category, Alozie joins seven other nominees, including Ona Batlle of Barcelona and Millie Bright of Chelsea. The broader shortlist also features African players such as Morocco’s Ghizlane Chebbak and Zambia’s Barbra Banda, representing various leagues and national teams.

The nomination raises international attention for Nigerian women’s football and reflects Alozie’s consistent performances at both club and international levels.
