December 15, (THEWILL)-Georginio Wijnaldum, who missed the World Cup due to a fractured leg, has joined the Roma team for a training camp in Portugal.
Wijnaldum spent one season with Ligue 1 champions, Paris Saint-Germain, before joining Roma on a season-long loan in August. The Dutchman played just 11 minutes for the Giallorossi before breaking his right leg in training later that month.
As a result, he was unable to travel with the Oranje to Qatar, where they lost to Argentina in a penalty shootout and failed to advance beyond the last eight. The midfielder, who was spotted on the field at Roma’s Trigoria training facility on Thursday, will aim to contribute significantly in the second half of the season.
The 32-year-old travelled to Portugal with Jose Mourinho’s team for a training camp and three friendly games against RKC Waalwijk, Casa Pia, and Cadiz. With Serie A set to resume on January 4, Roma is currently in seventh place, three points outside of the top four.
