March 21, (THEWILL) – Wolverhampton Wanderers forward, Matheus Cunha, has received an additional one-match suspension and a £50,000 fine after admitting improper conduct following his dismissal during the FA Cup fixture against Bournemouth, the Football Association confirmed on Friday.
The Brazilian international, who was initially given a three-match ban for his altercation with Milos Kerkez, engaged in confrontational behaviour with officials, team members, and staff before exiting the pitch. The incident occurred during the match that Wolves ultimately lost on penalties.
“Matheus Cunha will now be suspended from domestic football until Sunday, 13 April,” stated the FA in their official announcement regarding the disciplinary action. The additional punishment extends his absence from competitive fixtures.
Cunha, currently representing Brazil on international duty, has already missed two English Premier League matches due to his original suspension. He will remain unavailable for selection in upcoming fixtures against West Ham United and Ipswich Town next month before returning to eligibility for the home match against Tottenham Hotspur on April 13.
Wolves currently occupy 17th position in the EPL table with nine points separating them from the relegation zone. The extended absence of their forward presents additional challenges for the team during a critical period of the 2024/2025 campaign.
