BEVERLY HILLS, August 20, (THEWILL) –Â A virement of N4.15 billion in the 2014 budget has been approved by the Yobe State House of Assembly for roads construction.
The Assembly which gave the approval Wednesday said the money is to be used in completing ongoing federal and state roads in various parts of the state.
Announcing the approval on the floor of the Assembly as he read out the request of Governor Ibrahim Gaidam for the virement, the Assembly Speaker, Hon, Adamu Dala Dogo, said it was imperative to make some transfers within the Ministry of Works approved 2014 budget to complete ongoing federal and state roads before the end of the current financial year.
“In line with the provisions of the 2014 Appropriation law, the Secretary to the State Government in his August 14, 2014 letter of request for the approval by this Honourable House to effect virement in the 2014 approved budget where a total savings of N4.15 billion is made from some codes in respect of the capital expenditures for the Ministry of Works to argument construction of federal and state roads within the same budget for the attainment of government set objectives within the year under review,” he said.
According to the Speaker, with the approved virements, the completion of federal roads by the Ministry of Works will take a total sum of N1.1 billion, while N3.1 billion is spent on state roads.
