SAN FRANCISCO, October 31, (THEWILL) – Yobe State Government appears set to really build and renovate major roads across the state with the delivery, on Thursday, of N361m worth of construction equipment to the state.
The equipment, including some trucks and construction equipment, which were received by the state governor, Alhaji Ibrahim Gaidam, are coming only four days after some set of equipment worth N58 million were received.
The equipment, recently received, were procured for the state ministry of works to embark on massive inter town road construction across the state through direct labour.
The State governor, who inspected the equipment after they were delivered, said his administration was determined to embark on massive construction of rural, feeder and inter-town roads across the state in an effort to link various communities of the state.
“The ones inspected four days ago will take care of feeder and rural roads while the ones inspected today will embark on massive construction of inter town roads that will open up the state for socio-economic development,” Gaidam said.
He maintained that with the various construction equipment now received, the staff of the relevant ministries will be deployed through the direct labour system in order to minimise the cost of road construction.
The governor also disclosed that approval has been given for the purchase of spare parts for all the equipment supplied so as to avoid any excuse as to why the work cannot be round the clock, calling on the ministry of work to make the best used of the equipment.
The state Commissioner of Works, Alhaji Shettima Lawan Ali, said the equipment procured include 15 tippers, pay-loaders, rollers, road maker, graders among others.
He expressed gratitude to the governor for procuring the equipment, assuring that the ministry will justify the confidence reposed in it.
