SAN FRANCISCO, October 03, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Army said on Thursday that several Boko Haram gunmen have been killed while 15 others were arrested in a massive onslaught on the insurgents who were responsible for the killings of 40 students of the College of Agriculture Gujba in Yobe State last weekend.
Spokesman of the Nigerian Army in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, Captain Eli Lazarus, said in a statement that scores of Boko Haram members were also killed in ground and air strikes carried out by officers and men of the command.
“After the attack on the College of Agriculture in Gujba, our men carried out an operation around the Gujba axis and a camp of the insurgents was raided and several members of the insurgents were killed while 15 others were arrested,” he said.
He said those arrested are currently undergoing investigation and have been giving useful information to the security operatives to enable them track the fleeing hoodlums.
He disclosed that the military are strategising and will unveil new measures to stop the activities of the insurgents as he promised that the military will continue to strengthen its collaboration with the civil population.
The military embarked on air and ground bombardment of Boko Haram new camps in the North-east states of Yobe and Borno about three days ago following the resurgence of violent killings by the insurgents in both states.
