Umo Eno

May 07, (THEWILL) — Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has formally entered the race for a second term in office, declaring that unfinished projects under his administration’s ARISE Agenda necessitate another mandate ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Eno submitted his nomination form for the governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday, signalling his bid for re-election in the 2027 gubernatorial contest.

Speaking with the press at the Victor Attah International Airport on his return from Abuja, where he completed the submission process, the Governor appealed to party faithful and the people of the state to support his aspiration for a second term.

Governor Eno said his decision to seek re-election was driven by the need to consolidate ongoing development projects initiated under his administration’s ARISE Agenda.

According to him, the state has witnessed remarkable developmental strides in the last three years, but many of the projects embarked upon by his administration require more time for completion.

“We will continue to pray, trust in God, and remain committed to serving our people. But you can see clearly that there is still so much work on ground. Many of the projects we have started will not be fully completed within this term.

“That is why we are asking for another mandate to drive home these initiatives and consolidate on the progress already made for the benefit of our people”, he stated.

The Governor maintained that continuity in leadership would ensure that the projects are delivered in line with the original vision and objectives of his administration.

He also expressed appreciation to the people of Akwa Ibom State for their support over the last three years and appealed for the sustained cooperation to end his first term well.

Governor Eno’s formal declaration is expected to shape early political alignments within the APC as political activities gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
