March 22, (THEWILL) — A former member of the House of Representatives, Eseme Eyiboh, has endorsed the lawmaker representing Eket/Onna/Esit-Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency, Okpolupm Etteh, for a second term, in a move seen as a notable shift following their contest in the 2023 National Assembly election.
Eyiboh made the endorsement at a stakeholders’ meeting held at Villa Marina in Eket, where Etteh presented his mid-term scorecard to constituents and political leaders.
Speaking at the event, Eyiboh said his support was based on an assessment of Etteh’s performance rather than political considerations. He noted that his experience in the National Assembly informed his evaluation of legislative effectiveness.
“I am here not as a sympathiser driven by primordial sentiments, but as someone grounded in legislative experience to assess representation based on facts”, he said.
Eyiboh added that although legislative work is often not immediately visible, the outcomes of Etteh’s tenure were evident.
“What he has presented goes beyond rhetoric. It reflects genuine representation. One good term deserves another”, he stated.
In his presentation, Etteh outlined achievements in areas including employment facilitation, infrastructure, healthcare, and education. He also cited his efforts in sponsoring bills, attracting federal projects, and creating opportunities for constituents.
The lawmaker also referenced the legal disputes that followed his electoral victory, noting that they did not affect his focus on delivering constituency projects. He reiterated his commitment to expanding development initiatives if given another mandate.
The meeting was attended by political stakeholders, community leaders, and residents from across the constituency, many of whom commended the lawmaker’s performance.
