Abubakar Hashidu, Former Gombe Governor Is Dead

BEVERLY HILLS, July 27, (THEWILL) – A former governor of Gombe State, northern Nigeria, Abubakar Habu Hashidu, has reportedly passed away.

It was reported that Hashidu’s death was confirmed via an announcement from his family.

The news agency quoted a family member as saying, “With total submission to the will of Allah, we announce the death of former Governor of Gombe State Alhaji Abubakar Habu Hashidu. May Allah forgive his soul and grant him jahhan.”

Late Hashidu, who was governor of Gombe state under the platform of the then All Peoples Party (APP) from May 1999 to May 2003, died on Friday morning, July 27.

Before his death, several political posts including being Minister of Water Resources as well as a Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development under the military regime of Ibrahim Babangida.

The late Hashidu was a member of the Vision 2010 committee set up the Sani Abacha government.

He will be buried Friday evening according to Islamic rites.
