January 31, (THEWILL) – Aston Villa forward Jhon Duran has completed a transfer to Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League for a reported £64 million.
The Colombian international joins the Middle Eastern outfit after making significant contributions during his time at Villa Park, including scoring the decisive goal against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League this season.
The 21-year-old striker arrived at Aston Villa from Chicago Fire in January 2023 for £18m and went on to score 20 goals across 78 appearances.
Despite his impact coming off the substitute bench, Duran found regular starting opportunities limited, making only seven English Premier League starts during his tenure with the Birmingham-based club.
At Al Nassr, Duran will form part of an attacking lineup featuring Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and former Liverpool forward Sadio Mane.
The substantial transfer fee represents the second-largest sum Aston Villa have received for a player, following only the £100m Manchester City paid for Jack Grealish.
“Aston Villa can confirm that Jhon Duran has joined Al-Nassr for an undisclosed fee,” the club stated officially.
The departure of Duran strengthens Aston Villa’s position regarding Ollie Watkins, with manager Unai Emery confirming the England international’s commitment to remain at the club despite reported interest from Arsenal valued at £60 million.
