October 28, (THEWILL) -Thiago Alcantara and Naby Keita have both returned to full training for Liverpool ahead of their Premier League match against Brighton.
After being seen being put through their paces with the rest of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team squad on Thursday, the midfield duo appear to be in contention for Saturday’s visit of Graham Potter’s Seagulls to Anfield.
Thiago has been out of action since suffering a calf injury in the second half of Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Crystal Palace in mid-September.
Meanwhile, Keita was stretchered off in Manchester United’s 5-0 thrashing of their rivals at Old Trafford last weekend after being the victim of a violent challenge from Paul Pogba, which earned the French midfielder a straight red card after a VAR review.
However, it was later revealed that he had escaped major harm, with Liverpool assistant Pep Lijnders stating that he had bruises.
On Wednesday night, Keita was unavailable for selection as the Reds beat Championship side Preston 2-0 to book their place in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals. Takumi Minamino and Divock Origi scored in the second half to seal the win.
Thiago could play against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League next Wednesday night if the visit of Brighton comes too soon for him after more than a month on the sidelines.
Fabinho, the key Brazilian midfielder who missed out against United due to a slight knee injury, was not visible in training photographs from Kirkby on Thursday.
Harvey Elliott is still recovering from surgery on the serious ankle injury he sustained against Leeds in September. James Milner is also out with a hamstring injury.
