May 30, (THEWILL) – Carlos Alcaraz beat Karen Khachanov 6-1 6-4 6-4 to get to the quarterfinals of the French Open and continue his remarkably impressive play this clay season.

Khachanov was sensational in his previous round victory over British number one Cameron Norrie, but he was soundly dispatched by the imperial teenager in straight sets and in such a professionally technical manner.

On Court Philippe-Chatrier, the teenager controlled from the start and won in two hours and 14 minutes to set up a clash with Alexander Zverev.

After Khachanov was made to look second-rate in the first set, the Russian made a strong start in the second and put the teenager under pressure. But, as he has done so many times this season, Alcaraz adapted and responded with aggressive play.

In the third set, the Spaniard immediately put an end to any hopes of a Khachanov comeback, and victory was secured soon after.
