September 06, (THEWILL) – Paul Pogba is expected to return from knee surgery in January, according to Juventus manager, Massimiliano Allegri.
This comes as there is increasing worry that the Frenchman would not make the World Cup this winter. Pogba, who returned to Juventus from Manchester United this summer on a free transfer, has not made his second Juventus debut due to a knee injury he sustained during preseason, which Allegri said required surgery.
Pogba’s operation was successful, and Juventus has since assured supporters that he is now on the road to recovery, but Allegri gave a cryptic reaction when asked if the midfielder would miss the World Cup, replying: “We will realistically get him back in January.”
When queried if he was excluding Pogba from the competition later this year with that remark, Allegri responded, “The World Cup is not my problem, Juventus’ problem is that he comes back in January.”
With France as the defending World Cup champions and the tournament beginning on November 21 in Qatar, Pogba will have just over two months to recover fully from the knee surgery.
