December 27, (THEWILL) – Ruben Amorim, Manchester United’s manager, has addressed concerns about his role at Old Trafford following a challenging beginning to his tenure. The Portuguese coach has experienced five defeats in his initial 10 matches since joining from Sporting CP, marking a historically difficult start.
Statistics reveal Amorim’s record represents the most losses by a Manchester United manager in their first 10 games since Walter Crickmer in 1932, who suffered six defeats. Reports indicate Amorim initially requested to begin his role at the season’s conclusion when discussing terms with chief executive Omar Berrada. However, when questioned about this decision, Amorim responded: “There’s no point talking or thinking about that. I’m here and have to focus on the job.”
The immediate schedule presents significant challenges, with Newcastle United visiting Old Trafford on Monday, followed by a trip to Liverpool on January 5. Amorim remains pragmatic, stating: “It’s part of football to have these difficult moments. I already knew it was going to be tough.”
