BEVERLY HILLS, July 13, (THEWILL) – A Boko Haram member, Banza Yusuf, one of the masterminds of the kidnap of about 270 teenage schoolgirls from an all girls secondary school in Chibok, Borno State has been sentenced to 20 years in prison by a court at the Kainji military base in Niger State, central Nigeria.
A justice ministry spokesman, Salisu Isah confirmed the development to the foreign press, saying the man was jailed this week but declined to give further details.
THEWILL recalls that in February one Haruna Yahaya was convicted and sentenced to 15 years in prison for his role in the April 2014 kidnapping by the Boko Haram that sparked global outrage.
Freedom for more than half of the girls were secured by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration but nothing has been heard of the rest till date.
