December 05, (THEWILL) – Joe Aribo, the Nigerian midfielder for Glasgow Rangers, has stated that he and his teammates want to please new manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
He said the team is bent on scoring as many goals as possible to ensure their domination in the Scottish Premiership.
Since the Dutch manager took over from Steven Gerrard, the 25-year-old has been one of the star players for the Gers.
Aribo has scored twice in Rangers’ last three games, including the game-winning goal against Dundee FC on Saturday.
The result keeps then seven points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership, though their lead may be cut to four if Celtic win their game in hand against Dundee United.
Despite Rangers’ continued domination, the former Charlton man has voiced his desire to continue putting in outstanding performances alongside his teammates.
“We’re buzzing with the result first and foremost and we’re happy with the performance also,” Aribo told The Scottish Sun.
“We knew how important it was to start fast and try and get as many goals as possible.
“It has taken some time for the boys to get used to him (van Bronckhorst) but we are happy to keep pushing and prove to him. We want to score as many goals as possible and put a statement out to the rest of the league,” he added
The Gers have been in excellent form in the league, going 14 games without defeat and, after a shaky start, securing their place in the Europa League knockout stages.
The turn of goal-scoring form for Aribo will be of benefit to the Super Eagles if the Ibrox man can bring it to the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) set to commence next month in Cameroon.
