January 15, (THEWILL) – Following rumours that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was suffering from “heart lesions” after recuperating from COVID-19, Arsenal are satisfied that there is no significant concern surrounding his health.
Aubameyang was left out of Gabon’s team for their Africa Cup of Nations match against Ghana, which Arsenal interprets as a cautious step.
Arsenal’s physicians are believed to have communicated with Gabonese doctors and been assured that Aubameyang is well and the issue is not serious.
After testing positive for COVID-19 on January 6, the Gabonese captain has not played in either of Gabon’s first two matches in the competition. Mario Lemina, a teammate, and Anicet Yela, an assistant coach, both tested positive.
Patrice Neveu, Gabon’s manager, told AFP last week that the trio were asymptomatic.
Gabon’s AFCON group stage competition ends on January 18 when they face Morocco. It is unknown whether Aubameyang will be available for this match.
