January 04, (THEWILL) –Â Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Arsenal’s English midfielder, is scheduled to join Roma on loan until the end of the season.
Arsenal’s talks with the Italian club quickened in recent days, and Maitland-Niles could fly to Rome on Wednesday to finalise the deal. The midfielder is expected to join the Italian club on a one-year loan till the completion of the current campaign.
Maitland-Niles would then return to Arsenal in the summer, when his current deal would expire after one year.
THEWILL recalls that Everton were interested in the 24-year-old during the previous transfer window, and he almost left Arsenal. The Gunners, however, turned down offers from the Toffees, and the England international remained at the club.
However, Arsenal has accepted Roma’s offer, and Maitland-Niles will now join Jose Mourinho in Italy to give his career a blossoming boost and prove himself worthy of regular starts at the Emirates.
