April 08, (THEWILL) – Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, has called on his players to be fearless and thrive in the “jungle” atmosphere at Anfield when they face Liverpool on Sunday.
THEWILL recalls that the Gunners have not won at the famous Reds’ stadium in 11 years and will be looking to end their losing streak. Arteta was playing as a midfielder the last time Arsenal beat Liverpool at Anfield.
The Spaniard prepared his team for the challenging environment in last season’s match by playing “You’ll Never Walk Alone” during training, as revealed in the club’s Amazon Prime All or Nothing documentary. However, the Gunners still suffered a 4-0 defeat in that fixture.
Arteta is rallying behind his players and encouraging them to stand tall at Anfield this time around. “You cannot train the players in the zoo and then go to the jungle on Sunday. It’s impossible,” he remarked at his pre-match press conference. “An error and a mistake come after an opportunity to do that and develop yourself,” he added.
