November 12, (THEWILL) – Asisat Oshoala, Super Falcons’ captain and Barcelona Femeni star has referred to her knee injury as a “tough pill to swallow” after she had to be substituted in their 4-0 win over Hoffenheim in the UEFA Women’s Champions League.
According to Barcelona, Oshoala ruptured the posterior cruciate ligament in her right knee and will be sidelined for two months.
Barca’s triumph in Group C of the Women’s Champions League on Wednesday saw the 27-year-old replaced in the 63rd minute as the Spanish team and Champions League winners continued to dominate in Spain and across Europe.
“This one hit me so hard, it’s a tough pill for me to swallow. I can’t lie,” Oshoala admitted to her followers through her social media account. “Thank you for the messages, I will be back soon and even better.”
Oshoala is Barcelona’s highest goalscorer this season. The four-time African Women’s Footballer of the Year has scored 12 goals in 12 appearances, and she is the top scorer in the Spanish League, with 11 goals in nine games.
