November 24, (THEWILL) — Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Atiku announced the move on Monday in a post on his X handle, sharing a photograph of himself holding his ADC membership card with the caption, “It’s official.”
His declaration comes four months after he resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he was twice the party’s presidential candidate.
His departure followed a protracted internal crisis that weakened the PDP and left its leadership battling persistent divisions.
With his long-standing political influence and nationwide support base, Atiku’s entry into the ADC is expected to reinvigorate the party’s structures and broaden its appeal ahead of the 2027 general elections.
