Quadri Aruna

March 21, (THEWILL) – Quadri Aruna, a top-seeded Nigerian table tennis player, has received praise from the President of the Africa Table Tennis Federation (ATTF), Khaled El-Salhy, for his performance at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Singapore Smash.

Aruna became the first African player to reach the quarterfinals of the Grand Smash series, defeating several top seeds on the way. Aruna’s defeat of Japanese star, Tomokazu Harimoto, who had previously beaten him three times, was particularly noteworthy.

Although he eventually lost 4-0 to Brazil’s Hugo Calderano, Aruna’s quarterfinal finish in Singapore will earn him 350 ranking points and boost his rating in the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) rankings.
