July 14, (THEWILL) – Cross River State governor, Prof Ben Ayade, on Thursday, won the Senatorial ticket for Cross River North Senatorial district.
Ayade, the sole candidate, garnered 252 votes out of 255, to secure the ticket.
The primary was held at the council secretariat of Ogoja LGA and was conducted by a five-man Committee, led by Sameera Tabo.
Ayade replaces his former Chief of Staff, Martins Orim, who earlier secured the ticket, but withdrew days ago.
In his post election speech, shortly after he was declared winner, Ayade pledged not to betray the confidence reposed in him, when he finally wins in the general elections.
