April 02, (THEWILL) – Barcelona Femeni extended their unbeaten streak in the Primera Iberdrola to 24 games after a convincing 2-0 victory against Alhama.
The Catalan giants were in control for the majority of the game, but it took them until the second half to break down the resilient opposition. Substitute Caroline Graham Hansen scored the first goal for Barca and shortly after, an own goal by Alhama’s Lucia MartÃnez sealed the win for the visitors.
The victory also marked a milestone for Barca Women as they surpassed the 100-goal mark for the season in the league. Despite making several changes to the starting lineup following their UEFA Champions League triumph over Roma, with Asisat Oshoala starting on the bench, manager Jonatan Giráldez’s side dominated possession and created numerous chances throughout the match.
Although they hit the woodwork late in the game, the two goals in three second-half minutes were enough to secure yet another victory for the team. They now look set to go another entire season with their perfect winning streak intact.
