Barcelona Issue Contract Ultimatum To Ousmane Dembele

October 27, (THEWILL) – Ousmane Dembele has been issued an ultimatum by Catalan side Barcelona. The contract ultimatum states that he has one month to sign a new contract with the Catalan giants or he would be sold, as his present contract is set to expire at the end of the season.

The Blaugrana are in talks with the winger’s representation to extend his stay at Camp Nou beyond the summer of 2022. However, the former Borussia Dortmund player has refrained from putting pen to paper which has sent a signal to Europe’s football powerhouses.

Barca have grown impatient in their attempts to hold down Dembele, and it has led to this ultimatum that requires the Frenchman to sign a new deal within the next month or face a January transfer market exit.

The Blaugrana are sure that they can persuade Dembele that Catalonia is his destiny, albeit they are concerned that his agent is “brainwashing” him into considering other offers.

The Spanish side is well aware that they will not be able to compete financially with the rest of Europe, thus greater and more lucrative offers could sway Dembele’s decision. Despite his agent’s best efforts to secure a transfer away, they feel he wants to stay and show himself at the club.

The prospect of leading the Blaugrana back to their former dizzying heights appeals to the player, even if it means earning a lower income than in the Premier League or in France.

As a result, rather than enticing Dembele’s agency with a higher offer, Barça is seeking to personally persuade him to stay. Several members of the club’s leadership, including president Joan Laporta and coach Ronald Koeman, are attempting to persuade the Frenchman directly in order to negate the effect of his agent.

Barcelona also believes Dembele would thank them for their dedication by signing a new contract, after the club stood by his side during a series of devastating injuries that halted his career.
