September 20, (THEWILL) – Barcelona’s talented teenage full-back, Alejandro Balde, has agreed a new long-term contract, keeping him at the Camp Nou until 2028. The deal includes a €1 billion release clause.

The 19-year-old made his first-team debut last season and went on to make 44 appearances across all competitions under manager Xavi Hernandez. The defender contributed an impressive seven assists and one goal from left-back as Barcelona ended their four-year wait for the La Liga title.

Club officials confirmed Balde has put pen to paper on a 5-year contract extension. “FC Barcelona and the player Alejandro Balde have reached an agreement for a new contract which will take the player through to 30 June.” The deal will be formally signed at the Ciutat Esportiva training complex on Thursday.

Balde progressed through Barcelona’s famed La Masia Academy before earning his opportunity in the senior side. His rapid development last term saw him establish himself as a key player in Xavi’s plans moving forward
