October 27, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich and France defender Lucas Hernandez has had his prison sentence lifted following a successful appeal.
As THEWILL reported earlier, after a 2017 altercation with his fiancée, Amelia Llorente, Hernandez disobeyed a restraining order and was sentenced to six months in prison.
According to a statement released by a Madrid court on Wednesday, his sentence will be suspended if he does not commit another crime in the next four years. However, a €96,000 fine will also be imposed on the 25-year-old.
After the confrontation with Amelia in 2017, Hernandez received a 31-day community service sentence and a restraining order while playing for Atletico Madrid.
The two eventually reunited and married. When they returned to Spain from their honeymoon in June of that year, Hernandez was arrested and spent a night in prison.
Hernandez was ordered to appear in court in Madrid on October 19 for failing to comply with the restraining order. He would be “personally requested to voluntarily enter the penitentiary centre of his choice within ten days” according to the statement.
