July 18, (THEWILL) – Bayern Munich delivered an extraordinary performance in their latest pre-season friendly, demolishing amateur side FC Rottach-Egern with a staggering 27-0 triumph.
The Bundesliga champions exhibited their dominance throughout the match, with Marcel Sabitzer, Jamal Musiala, and Mathys Tel all netting five goals each. The merciless display left FC Rottach-Egern trailing behind, as Bayern held an 18-0 lead at half-time. This encounter mirrored a similar clash in 2019 when Bayern trounced their opponents with a 23-0 win.
The match served as part of Bayern’s pre-season training camp at Tegernsee and attracted widespread attention as it was live-streamed on Facebook. Fans witnessed a star-studded lineup from Bayern Munich, including Sabitzer, Musiala, and Tel, who left an indelible mark on the game with their impressive goal-scoring spree. Serge Gnabry also made his mark with a hat-trick.
The goal feast involved contributions from several other players, including Kingsley Coman, Alphonso Davies, Leroy Sane, Dayot Upamencano, Sadio Mane, Konrad Laimer, Raphael Guerreiro, Ryan Gravenberch, and Noussair Mazraoui. Although new signing Kim Min-Jae did not participate in the game, he had the opportunity to meet his new teammates. Bayern Munich’s training camp in Tagernsee, a picturesque town south of Munich near the Austrian border, provided an ideal setting for their pre-season preparations.
Aside from Rottach-Egern’s status as a local team with fewer than a thousand members competing in regional leagues, these friendlies have become customary for German teams during training camps in Austrian or Southern European towns. The matches serve as an opportunity to refine strategies and provide a less intense environment to test the team’s progress. And, while the local team faced an overwhelming defeat, it presented a unique opportunity for their supporters to witness firsthand some of the world’s finest players in action.
